The fifth Test match between India and England finally got underway on Friday after being postponed last year. The fans were eagerly waiting for the final Test match to see whether India finally manage to win a series in England after 15 years. The first day was a complete ‘action packed’ drama after England won the toss and put India in to bat.

Indian openers started positively but the joy was short-lived as James Anderson was back at his usual business of picking up wickets as he dismissed the openers in quick succession. Matty Potts also made life hell for Indian batsmen as he dismissed Virat Kohli and Hanuma Vihari. India were reeling at 98 for 5 when Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja came together to build a 222-run partnership between them. Pant went on to score 146 off just 111 balls while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 84.

Meanwhile, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik took to Twitter to share the screenshot of the Day 1 highlights of the Test uploaded on Youtube by the England and Wales Cricket Board. Karthik criticized the English board for the video title which was ‘Root dismisses dominant Pant’. The 37-year-old batter felt that the English board didn’t give enough credit to Pant for his game-changing knock in the title of the video.

“After such an engrossing, enthralling days play, I'm sure the headline can be much better and apt than this @ECB_cricket. That knock by @RishabhPant1 land the quality of Test cricket played by both sides were as good as it can be and this is how you sum up a day,” Karthik tweeted.

India will resume Day 2 on the score of 338/7 with Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten on 83. The team will be looking to get to 400 to put the England team under pressure. India are leading the series by 2-1 and are on the verge of winning their 4th Test series in England.
