After a championship-winning campaign in the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan finally spoke out about the potential future of the former India captain MS Dhoni on Wednesday. In the world's richest event’s final on Tuesday, Dhoni's CSK team defeated Gujarat Titans, matching Mumbai Indians' extraordinary feat of claiming five IPL championships.

To win the coveted trophy, CSK narrowly defeated Gujarat Titans during a game that was postponed due to rain. MS Dhoni, who has won many awards throughout his career, reportedly played in the IPL 2023 despite having a left knee injury. But he participated in each and every game for the team.

It will be completely his call: CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan

Viswanathan provided an update on Dhoni's knee injury and said that the former India skipper would seek medical guidance before deciding whether to continue playing for the Chennai team. As quoted by PTI, he spoke about how Dhoni would first consult about his injury with the doctors and would then opt for the adequate treatment that would be best for him as well as the Chennai Super Kings. He said, "Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call."

Viswanathan then spoke about how Dhoni might go under surgery and it might be through the same doctor that is treating Rishabh Pant. He said, "MS Dhoni has gone to meet Dr Pardiwala (he is treating Pant as well) & prepare to take the surgery route to recover fully for the next season."

On Tuesday, Dhoni made his 250th IPL appearance. During the championship game involving CSK against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he became the first Indian to reach 300 dismissals. The former captain of India also shared the distinction of co-most successful captain after leading CSK to their fifth title after defeating Gujarat Titans by a margin of five wickets.
