Team India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is anticipated to come back to the Indian side in the Twenty20 format after being left out by the selectors across all formats. Dhawan has continued to be skipped over by the Indian Cricket Board selectors after Shubman Gill emerged as the great all-format opener alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. The squad for the ODIs and Test matches for the West Indies tour has already been decided. Dhawan wasn't included in that squad.

Meanwhile, during the Asian Games, the left-handed batter is probably going to lead Team India. The Indian Cricket Board will finalize the squad for the Asian Games on July 7 during their Annual General Meeting. โ€œShikhar Dhawan's name is doing rounds as the captain of the India B team that will take part in the quadrennial extravaganza,โ€ PTI reported on Thursday.

Based on the sources, the Board is willing to send out the India B team to the upcoming Asian Games that are slated to take place in Hangzhou in the months of September and October. The Asian Games in 2014 included cricket as a sport; however, the Indian team opted not to take part in it.

After being sidelined for a period of nine years, cricket will be returning to the Asian Games. Notably, Cricket was removed from the lineup in Jakarta in 2018. The Indian Cricket Board will be sending the top women's team, whereas the B team of the men's side will go to Hangzhou for the Asian Games.

On the other hand, it has been revealed that a full-strength women's squad (Team A) will be taking part in the Asian Games. The women's squad recently featured in the Commonwealth Games last year held in Birmingham and captured the silver medal after losing against the strong Australian side by just nine runs.
