Punjab Kings opening batter Prabhsimran Singh has scored his maiden IPL hundred in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals. In the game, the home team, DC won the toss and elected to bowl first on a dry wicket. The Red Army had a poor start as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay for 45 runs. The likes of skipper Shikhar (7), Liam Livingstone (4), and Jitesh Sharma (5) lost their wickets cheaply.

At this stage, Singh and Sam Curran (20) put together 72 runs for the fourth wicket. The latter struggled at the crease as he played 24 balls and hit only one four. On the other hand, Singh was going well as he carried his good form this season. He started slowly but started accelerating after a while. However, he rode his luck as he was dropped at 68 by Rilee Rossouw.

The right-hander rode his luck and went on to score his maiden hundred as he scored a few fours and a six to reach his century in the 18th over. The Punjab player got out to Mukesh Kumar in the penultimate over the innings. His hundred helped the team reach 167/7 at the end of the innings.

Prabhsimran Singh played only six games in four seasons before IPL 2023

Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper batter made his IPL debut in 2019. That year, he played one game and scored 16 runs. The likes of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal used to open the batting for the side. The same opening pair continued for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. During these seasons, Singh played two games each season.

In these games, he combined for 34 runs. Last year too, he only played a game in which Shikhar Dhawan missed out. It was played against Sunrisers Hyderabad which the 2014 finalists lost. Meanwhile, with Jonny Bairstow missing out this season, Singh has played all 12 games, including the ongoing one. He has scored 334 runs averaging 27.83 including a fifty and a hundred.
