On Sunday the board in a meeting with Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, Roger Binny, and Chetan Sharma had a long discussion about what the future roadmap of the Indian Cricket Team would look like. There were a slew of plans which were introduced by the board after the meeting.
The main issues which were addressed were workload management and also new parameters laid out concerning the rules for eligibility of selection. The YO-YO Test made a comeback into the Indian Team and also DEXA was drafted which would play an important role in being a selection determinant. Both are “implemented in the customised roadmaps of the central pool of players,” The Board said in a statement.
Here is all you need to know about DEXA
A DEXA scan is a high-precision type of X-Ray which is used to measure bone density strength. DEXA is short for “dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. The Test is used to measure bone density. This test will measure bone strength. Trainers will be able to measure body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, and also water content. The Test helps the trainers understand where the body fat is located and whether the training methods are yielding results.
The YO YO Test makes a comeback to the Indian Team’s plans. The Test was scrapped during the time of the pandemic as the players were subjected to higher levels of stress and workload due to the bio bubbles. Now with things assuming a sense of normalcy, The YO-YO Test is back.
The Board also said that it will work together with the franchises in the Indian T20 League to help manage the workloads of the shortlisted 20 players who have been penned down keeping in mind the 2023 ODI World Cup which will be held on home soil. “Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for ICC CWC 2023, the NCA will work in tandem with the Indian T20 League Franchise to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the Indian T20 League 2023,” The statement from the board read.
