A piece of news made by News Corp revealed that the Australian batter David Warner might skip BBL. It has been understood that the aggressive opener will play the new T20 league in UAE instead of the BBL. The Indian T20 league teams will finance the six teams of the new T20 league. David Warner is expected to agree to play in the tournament soon.
Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will host the matches between January 6, 2023, and February 12 2023. Mubashir Usmani, the secretary-general of the cricket board of Emirates, earlier revealed to Cricbuzz that each team will be allowed to sign four players out of the draft. “Each franchise will be allowed to sign four players of their choice outside of the draft or auction, which we will decide later. It could be any player who has a NOC from his home board,” Usmani said.
It was reported earlier that the new teams will be able to pick four players from their parent Indian T20 league teams. However, if Warner has to play the new T20 tournament, he has to acquire a NOC from the cricket board of Australia. It remains to be seen if the board will allow him to play the new league instead of BBL. If the board decides against him, then he’ll have to play the BBL.
David Warner plays for the Delhi team in the Indian T20 league. The batter earlier captained the Hyderabad team earlier in the Indian T20 league. He has an average of 42.01 in 162 matches he has played so far. He has piled up a total of 5881 runs in the Indian T20 league. The 35-year-old has been consistent in the Indian T20 league and also in the BBL.
If at all a team bags David Warner in the new UAE T20 league, it will be a cracking start to the tournament. But for now, all eyes are on the cricket board of Australia to give a NOC to David Warner. And if they do, it will be a great beginning for the new UAE league.
