In the latest episode of The Masked Singer season 9, which featured the final battle of the second group of singers, Fairy, the reigning queen, competed against newcomers Macaw and Axolotl for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Macaw enchanted the audience when performed a slow rendition of Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying," in his multi-coloured wings and soothing voice. He outperformed Fiary in the Battle Royale round with his version of Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much."
It was clued that the Macaw was none other than American singer David Archuleta. However, fans already anticipated that it was Archuleta behind the mask. While, in another shocking revelation, the identity of the Axolotl turned out to be of the WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss, which left the crowd and judges stunned.
Bliss also shared her excitement on social media and thanked WWE and The Masked Singer for a wonderful experience. Bliss emulates AEW and ex-WWE star Chris Jericho, who came as a bride in the previous season.
Bliss also performed LeAnn Rimes’ hit "Can't Fight the Moonlight." The video contains plenty of references to WWE, including showing off a championship belt. Unfortunately, the audience vote caused her to be sent home, despite the host panel complimenting her performance.
She stated that she has "stage fright" when it comes to singing, and she agreed to do the show in order to combat that. WrestleMania XI guest star Jenny McCarthy was the only one who made the correct guess of Alexa BLiss under the mask. Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong both guessed a different Bella twin. While Nicole Scherzinger thought out of the box and guessed Olympic Gold Medal-winning U.S. gymnast McKayla Maroney.
The American wrestler Bliss is out of the action for a while due to injury. It is speculated that she will soon make her return in the ring, to possibly continue her story with Bray Wyatt.
She also shared news of her successful treatment for skin cancer, which included a quick procedure for removing basal cell carcinoma and other squamous cells found on her face.
