The Russian tennis star Daria Kasatkina has been faring well for her country over the past few weeks, and Saturday (August 27) was no different for her as she clinched her second title in hardcourt swing leading into the US Open 2022. The 25-year-old is Russia's one of the most anticipated tennis stars and she has been justifying it with her performances of late as she beat Australia's Daria Saville in the finals of the Granby WTA.

This title comes just a few weeks after her title win at San Jose and the youngster has done her homework ahead of the mega event in the United States of America. The title at Granby, Canada was her sixth singles title and the 25-year-old will look to emulate the same in the US Open, starting on Monday (August 29).

She defeated the Australian 6-4, 6-4 in the finals of the Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby making it her second title after winning the Silicon Valley Classic earlier. The Russian star, Kasatkina will face Britain's Harriet Dart in her first clash in the US Open 2022 as her best in the tournament came in the year 2017 when she reached the round of 16.

Daria Kasatkina's rise in stature over the years

Idolizing Rafael Nadal, the Russian singles number one barged into the top 10 of the WTA rankings in the year 2018 and there has been no turning back since then. Her win at the Charleston Open in the year 2017 set up the tone for her career and since then, the star has been rising in stature and was ranked number nine in the WTA rankings on August 8, 2022.

The star did have a poor run in the year 2019 making the road tough for her but that did not stop her from making a strong comeback as she made her way back into the top 30s in 2021 and has now made it to the top ten, yet again. With two titles under her belt, the expectations are high and a strong fight in each game is predicted from the youngster in the US Open.
