Dante Vanzeir expresses regret over racial remark he had made in an MLS game

Dante Vanzeir has tendered an apology to the San Jose side after it appeared that he directed racial slurs to them.

New York Red Bulls, along with their forward Dante Vanzeir, expressed forgiveness over a racist remark that he made in a Major League Soccer match which took place against the San Jose Earthquakes. The Football game came to a grinding halt when the San Jose team deliberated whether they should keep playing or not. Then, the players decided to continue to play in Saturday's match.

The match, however, ended in a tame draw at the Red Bull Arena. The notice of the remark being directed was brought by Jeremy Ebobisse who was the striker from San Jose He said that a player from New York had used a racial slur after halftime without taking any names. He said the San Jose players decided to play on once it was confirmed that the remark had nothing to do with any particular opponent.

An investigation was conducted by MLS where The Red Bulls Vanzeir, and Gerhard Struber the coach expressed deep regret over the incident and have given their apologies. "I want to sincerely apologize to the players of the Earthquakes. I will do everything I can to be part of the change that needs to happen in this sport and our world," Vanzier said in a statement.

He added, "I also want to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the organization and our fans. I made a mistake and will take all the necessary steps to grow. I accept full responsibility for my actions. While I did not intend to cause any harm or offense with my language, I know that I did and for that I am deeply sorry."

The Red Bulls also apologized for the behaviour shown by the player and were very sorry for the untoward incidents that took place on Saturday night. "The words and inaction were inexcusable, and we believe there is never a place for it," The Red Bulls said. The coach has also regretted the fact of not taking the player off the field after the incident surfaced.
