CWG 2022: Full list of Commonwealth Games sports & events

Here is the full list of sports and events for Commonwealth Games 2022 to be held in Birmingham

Commonwealth Games 2022 is all set to be played in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8. As many as 280 events spread across 20 sports will take place in the multi-sport event. 72 Commonwealth nations will be participating in the event. Basketball 3×3 and wheelchair Basketball 3×3 will also be a part of this event, while the women’s cricket team will be involved in the event for the very first time.

Sports such as Aquatics, Swimming, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Basketball 3×3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3×3, Cricket, Boxing, Cycling, Athletics, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby sevens etc. will take place in the event.

Here’s a look at the list full list of all the games sports & events in the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022:

Aquatics:

Aquatics has two sub-divisions: swimming and diving. Swimming will be held from July 29 to August 3. Diving will be held from August 4 to August 8. The events will be held at Sandwell Aquatics Centre. This will be one of the most exciting sport to watch out for.

Hockey:

University of Birmingham will host the hockey matches. The pitches outside the Birmingham University will be used for the same. It will be same venue for men’s and women’s hockey. The event will be held from July 29 to August 8.

Badminton:

Six events will take place in this category. Men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. All events will be played at National Exhibition Centre and will be held from July 29. This is one event where countries can pile up their medals.

Beach Volleyball:

Smithfield Stadium will host the event. Beach Volleyball made its first ever appearance in the Commonwealth Games in the year 2018. This will be second appearance in the multi-sport event.

Basketball 3×3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3×3:

Smithfield stadium will host the event once again. This will be their first ever appearance in the Commonwealth Games 2022. It will definitely be an exciting one to watch out for.

Cricket:

Women’s cricket will be a part of Commonwealth Games 2022 for the first time ever. Men’s cricket was a part of 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. The matches will be played at Edgbaston stadium.

Boxing:

National Exhibition Centre will host the event. There are as much as 16 categories in the Boxing.

Cycling:

Lee Valley Velopark, Warwick’s Myton Fields and Cannock Chase Forest will host the event. Cycling has three sub-divisions namely mountain biking, track cycling and road cycling. Three sub-divisions consist of 26 events in total. With much events in the category, Cycling will boost up a country’s medal tally.

Athletics:

Alexandar Stadium will host the event. Again a big category which consist of 58 events. Athletics is an integral part of Commonwealth Games and it is another category which nations will target to mount their medal tally.

Gymnastics:

Arena Birmingham will host the event. It includes both rhythmic and artistic gymnastics. The category consist of 20 events.

Judo:

The event will take place at Arena’s indoor spaces and Coventry Stadium.

Lawn Bowls:

Victoria Park bowling greens in Leamington Spa will host the event from July 29 to August 6.

Netball:

Netball made its first ever appearance in the Commonwealth Games in 1998. And this will be their seventh appearance. The events will take place at National Exhibition Centre.

Rugby sevens:

The matches will be played between July 29 and July 31. For both men and women, the hosting place will be Coventry Stadium.

Para powerlifting:

Para powerlifting made its first ever appearance in the year 2002. National Exhibition Centre will host the event.

Squash:

University of Birmingham will host the event. The category consists of 5 events. Squash is an interesting sport. And will add some challenge to Commonwealth Games 2022.

Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis:

National Exhibition Hall will host the event. Para Table Tennis will make its debut in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Triathlon and Para Triathlon:

Sutton Park and Sutton Coldfield will host the event between July 29 and July 31.

Weightlifting:

National Exhibition Hall will host the event.

Wrestling:

Coventry Arena will host the event across 12 events.
