It was confirmed earlier today that the Asia Cup 2023, which was supposed to be held in Pakistan, will be moved to another venue. India will not travel to Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup 2023, according to Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah. The announcement came on the same day as the Indian Cricket Board's annual general meeting in Mumbai.

Responding to this development, A Sri Lankan journalist tweeted demanding the Apex Cricket Council ban India from all their events. "Apex Cricket Council banned Zimbabwe team from Apex Cricket Council events due to govt interference, now, What about India?" Nibraz Ramzan, the journalist, wrote.

This has not gone down well with Indian fans, who have retaliated against the journalist. Many fans pointed out that the Apex Cricket Council would not be able to function without the Indian Cricket Board. "Do you still think that Apex Cricket Council and Indian Cricket Board are two different entities?" a user hilariously wrote.

Notably, Asia Cup is administered by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and not the Apex Cricket Council. The latter has no say over ACC's conduct and what they decide for the intercontinental tournament.

The ACC's president, Jay Shah, suggested that the Asia Cup be held somewhere else next year. He also stated that neither India nor Pakistan are permitted to visit each other.

“The Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue. I am saying this as ACC President. We can’t go there , they can’t come here. In the past also, Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue,” Shah told media after the AGM.

Shah's comments could have an impact on Apex Cricket Board events, two of which will be held in India and Pakistan in the coming years. Following the Asia Cup, India will host the ODI World Cup in 2023, while Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy in 2025.
