Cristiano Ronaldo has, once again, found himself in a mess. The former Manchester United footballer has been disallowed to play his next two matches in the Premier League and also has been slapped with a fine of 50,000 pounds. This has happened on the back of his antics during the Everton game in the Premier League last season.
The ban will be in effect when Ronaldo moves over to a new club. The ban, however, does not apply in the FIFA World Cup 2022 where he will play for Portugal, who will begin their campaign against Ghana on November 24.
One of the greatest of all time in the sport, Ronaldo has now officially left Manchester United and is now a free bird. He had an altercation which took place after the 1-0 loss at Goodison Park on April 9. He was charged by the England Football association with improper conduct.
"An independent regulatory commission found that his conduct was both improper and violent during a subsequent hearing, and imposed these sanctions," The statement by FA conveyed on Wednesday.
Ronaldo had Tendered a public apology on Instagram
Ronaldo had agreed to the charges which were slapped on him by the FA. But, he had asked for a personal hearing. He did so at a hearing held online on December 8. He tried his best to bypass the suspension. He had one major concern which was related to his own physical safety and well-being. The independent panel however looked at it in a different light.
"Act born of frustration and annoyance rather than fear or concern for his well being." The panel said. Right after the incident occurred, Ronaldo put out an apology on Instagram.
"It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game. He wrote.
"I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship." read the statement.
