Cristiano Ronaldo, in a heartfelt gesture, has sent a planeload of care supplies to the victims of recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The devastating natural disaster measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale have reportedly claimed more than 50,000 lives till date. The horrific incident left thousands of people still missing, injured or homeless in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria.

More than 500,000 people have been evacuated from affected areas in Turkey and 160,000 buildings have collapsed or been damaged in the February 6 disaster, according to reports from Reuters.

The Portuguese star has also donated money for tents, medical supplies, warm clothes, bedding, food and baby supplies to boost relief efforts. The former Manchester United forward and current captain of the Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr has received praise from fans around the world for his act of kindness.

Another kind gesture from the GOAT

Ronaldo, who has made generous donations to charity in the past, has added another kind gesture to help earthquake victims. Turkish footballer Merih Demiral has revealed that the Portugal skipper has allowed one of his signed jerseys to be auctioned off and the money will be donated to earthquake victims.

Demiral took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "I just spoke to Cristiano. He said that he was extremely sad about the things that happened in Turkey. We have decided to auction his signed jersey which I have in my collection. All proceeds from the auction will solely be used for the victims who have been affected by the earthquake."

The 38-year-old also fulfilled the dream of a Syrian boy who told rescuers he wanted to meet his favorite player. Nabil Saeed was invited to attend Al Nassr's clash against Al Batin in Riyadh last month, which Ronaldo's side won 3-1. The young fan met his idol and took a picture with him.

"When I saw Ronaldo, I thought it was a dream. I didn't believe myself. When this dream would end, I didn't know. I pray to God that it will not be a dream. I wish everyone could see Ronaldo. He is very nice person," Saeed told Reuters.
