It was a memorable Christmas Eve for the Indian Women’s Cricket Team in Mumbai on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team beat Australia by 8 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium to win the one-off Test Match.

Team India beat England last week in Mumbai to win their only test match to show their rise in the Test format. The comprehensive came just after the lunch break on Day four with massive cheers from the fans in the stadium.

Australia on the other hand can take heart from the fact that they put up a brave fight. Alyssa Healy and her side were dismissed for just 219 in the first innings. India took a massive lead of 187 thanks to half-centuries from four Indian batters.

Team India completes an easy win

Day four of the India vs Australia one-off Test was over on day four. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team have continued their dream run in the longest format of the game. Pooja Vastrakar struck first when she dismissed Gardner for just 7 runs off 27 balls.

It was the turn of the Indian spinners to take over as they ran rampant against the Australian lower order. Sneh Rana got the big wicket of Anabel Sutherland for 27 when she was caught by Yastika Bhatia.

The very next ball Alana King was out bowled by Rana for a duck. This wicket was followed by Kim Garth being bowled by Rajeshwari Gayakwad for four. The left-arm spinner then ended the innings as she knocked over Jonassen’s to send her back to the hut for 9.

Chasing 75 runs to win, India lost opener Shafali Varma early for 4. Smriti Mandhana and RIcha Ghosh then added 51 runs for the 2nd wicket to take India on the cusp of a win. Mandhana was not out on 38 along with fellow Mumbai batter Jemimah Rodrigues to take the team home to an easy win.
