The second edition of the Women's IPL is set to start in the upcoming days. The entire month of December will be crucial for league cricket in India, as two important auctions of the Indian cricket is set to take place in the month. The first of it will be the auction of the Women's Premier League of the second edition, which will be happening on the 9th of Decmber.
Just days after it, the auction of the men's IPL will take place on the 19th of December in Dubai. For the first time in the history of the men's IPL, the acution is set to take place away from India. Women's IPL, on the other hand, will be taking place in India, in a familiar city. The franchises are gearing up for the same, which is expected to change the face of the Indian women's cricket.
A total of 165 players are set to go under the hammer in women's auctions for the 2024 season on the 9th of December. Both the men's and the women's categories will see mini auctions this time around. Women's auction is set to take place in Mumbai, where 5 franchises would look for players to fit into their roles.
Rules for WPL Auction 2024
A franchise can pick a maximum of 18 players and a minumum of 15 players. The maximum purse value of franhcises is estimated around INR 12 crores. The teams can pick a maximum of 7 overseas players, including one from an associate team. In the playing XI, there can be 4 overseas players. An extra overseas player can be played if they are from an associate team.
A total of 30 slots are up for grabs in the WPL 2024. The live telecasting of the WPL auctions 2023 will take place on Sports10 network channels. The live streaming of the same on small screens will be avilable on Jio Cinema in India. Gujarat Giants have the highest purse and the most number of slots left resepectively ahead of the auction.
