India winning the series in South Africa was a great moment for every cricket fan in the country. The last time these two teams faced each other the result was not in favour as the visitors got white washed last year. This series however is where the Men in blue earned their redemption and won the series with KL Rahul once again at the helm of affairs. This was a great performance by India where all the bowlers, fielders and batters were consistent throughout. The 3rd ODI saw some great performances with Sanju Samson’s maiden century and Arshdeep Singh once again impressing in the bowling department.

The Indians posted a very competitive total of 296 already on a wicket which was slightly sluggish with the ball not coming onto the bat as well as it should. The partnership between Samson and Tilak Varma was enough to create a great platform to put up a good total on the board. The bowlers and the fielders still had a job to do in the middle and they succeeded with flying colours as they bowled out the proteas for 218 winning the game by 78 runs and taking the series with a final lead of 2-1.

India head coach Sitanshu Kotak addressed the team and praised everyone for their performance. The first praise was for the performances in the 3rd ODI where Samson had won the man of the match for his hundred and Arshdeep for his brilliant 4 wicket hall. Arshdeep was also praised for winning the man of the series for his brilliant bowling spells. The wait was however for the best fielder of the series award which was going to be given by India fielding coach Ajay Ratra. Despite Rahul taking 6 catches, the medal went to Sai Sudharshan due to his blinder in the 3rd and final match.

This was a decision made as the fielding coach chose to go for a fielder rather than a wicket keeper and Sudharashan’s catch being taken at a crucial stage in the match was enough to give him the prize. That catch was also a glimpse of how Sudharshan also performed throughout the series being the highest run scorer for his team as well. With two wonderful half-centuries and a phenomenal catch, Sudharshan has had close to a dream start in his debut series.
