The Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 is now a few months away with all squads and teams announced. There have been a lot of surprises in the events that lead up to the squads being complete and ready to play as well. There have been some concerns as well, especially for Mumbai Indians(MI) as the availability of their new skipper and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is still in question. He was already under a lot of scrutiny as MI fans didn’t like the sudden change in captain replacing Rohit Sharma who has given them great performances and has been a reliable leader as well. However, the all-rounder is still a match winner and his presence in the IPL will still be crucial knowing he covers all the bases in the game.
The India player has still been a great player in the IPL and has given some match-winning performances with both bat and ball. He has played over 100 IPL matches where he has scored over 2000 runs and has over 50 wickets. He has been part of 4 IPL championship titles with MI as well and even led the Gujarat Titans(GT) in the 2022 season. The season saw Hardik lifting the trophy for the 5th time as a player and 1st time as a captain. However, his ankle injury updates have not been the best so far and there were speculations on whether he will be fit enough to play this season.
Hardik training
With all the talk about whether he will be fit to play or not, he recently posted a video of him training which has made people curious as to if he is going to come back in the tournament this season. The sight of the Gujarat player training has made fans hopeful that he might be playing this upcoming IPL season to lead the MI side. This might not be 100 percent clear whether the powerful all-rounder from Baroda will return, but this is still a great sign for Mumbai Indians and India to see him lift weights and do push-ups.

Hardik’s return will surely boost the confidence of MI, knowing how much of an impact he can make on the game with his big hits down the order and pace bowling in the middle overs. He is one of the most experienced players in the MI squad, who will be a player to watch out for in the tournament if he is available. Overall it is still good to see the 30 yr old star, work on his fitness and come back as a much stronger and seasoned player. Everyone will be hoping that the latest updates on his fitness will be more positive and show more chances of him playing in IPL 17.
