The fans have witnessed a great Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where Australia beat Pakistan by 79 runs. The Aussies came out on top despite some great comebacks by Pakistan bowlers, who were bowling great spells, but the Australian pacers did not hold back and put the Pakistan batters on the backfoot straight away. Australia skipper Pat Cummins was the man of the match for his great performance with the ball and finished with figures of 10/97, getting his second 10-wicket haul in Test matches. Not only did Australia win the game, but also secured a series win as well.
Throughout this match, there was also some drama, which was expected in a Boxing Day Test. These moments were quite iconic as well as we saw the beauty as well as the ugliness of cricket. Right from fans dancing to drop catches, this game had it all. These moments will also be remembered in the largest stadium in cricket history, which can hold more than 100,000 people. Some of these moments were just fun and games and some played a major part in the match.
The bizarre 5 run moment
We have seen a lot of weird moments in the game of cricket from no balls to drop catches and freak run-outs. There are also some moments where the team has scored 5 runs as well. These can come in many ways such as hitting the helmet behind the batter, four wides and a boundary on a no-ball. However, the Aussies had other ideas as they used the big dimensions of the G where they ran 5 runs on an overthrow. They did get some help from some poor fielding by Pakistan, but making 5 runs without an extra is still a rare and bizarre feat.

This shows that the game of cricket is still unpredictable one where we never know if we can see something new. This was one of those moments, which a lot of people will talk about whether it will be Aussie batters managing to score 5 runs or the poor effort in the field by Pakistan players. This makes Boxing Test matches great once again where over 1000’s of fans can witness all of the good, bad and ugly of the game. Some people might take it personally and some might laugh it off but overall it is one of the moments people will remember for a long time.
