Top five Indian batters with most ducks in international cricket

Cricket is a game of achievements and for any player scoring a century or taking wickets in a game brings instant recognition. There is one feat though that any player especially a batter scores a duck when he is out to bat.

For any Indian cricket fan, it is a sad picture when his or her favourite batter falls for a duck. Over the years some of the best players in Indian Cricket have fallen without opening their account on many occasions.

Here is the complete list of the Indian batters with the most ducks in international cricket: 

Sourav Ganguly – 29 Ducks

The former Indian skipper has won the Indian team many games on the back of his batting. During his nearly two-decade-long career, Sourav Ganguly has set a lot of records. There is also another record that Sourav Ganguly holds that doesn’t make a good reading.

Sourav Ganguly has 29 ducks in his international career for India. The former Indian skipper has 16 ducks in 311 ODI games for India. In the test format, Sourav Ganguly has accumulated 13 ducks in his 113-match career. The last of which came in his final innings for India in Nagpur.

Rohit Sharma – 30 Ducks

The current skipper Rohit Sharma has 30 ducks in his 16-year-long cricket career for India. Four of those ducks came in his 52 test matches for India despite being known for his impeccable defense. Rohit Sharma also has 16 ducks in ODI cricket and a further 10 ducks in T20I matches for India. 

Virender Sehwag – 31 Ducks

The best-ever Indian opener post-Sunil Gavaskar, the Nawab of Najafgarh is the only Indian batter to score two triple-centuries in test cricket. The former dashing right-handed batter has 31 ducks in his international cricket career. 16 ducks came in the test format while Sehwag has 14 ducks in the ODI format and just 1 in the T20I format. 

Sachin Tendulkar – 34 Ducks

In the history of cricket, there is no batting record that Sachin Tendulkar doesn’t possess. During his 24-year career for India, the former batting maestro has been out for a duck on 34 occasions. On twenty occasions Sachin Tendulkar was out for a duck in ODI Cricket while 14 of those ducks came in Test Cricket.

Virat Kohli – 34 Ducks

The former Indian skipper was out for a 9-ball duck during the 2023 ODI World Cup game versus England on Sunday. Virat Kohli is joint top for the most ducks by an Indian in international cricket. 14 ducks have come in Test Cricket, while 16 has come in ODI cricket and four times in T20I cricket.
