The 5th match of the Big Bash League between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes at North Tasmania Cricket Association ground saw the Sixers winning a low-scoring thriller against the Hurricanes by 6 wickets. Sixers struggled at one stage while chasing a paltry total of 136, but the knock by Daniel Hughes and cameos from skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk made sure the Sixers chased down the total with 8 balls to spare.
This win keeps the Sixers unbeaten winning their first two games. However, there was an interesting moment in the game which featured Sydney Sixers allrounder Tom Curran, who you might say was on fire with the ball in hand, but the groundsmen almost turned that metaphor into a reality.
In the 2nd ball of the 14th, Corey Anderson smashed a length ball of Moises Henriques down the ground for a boundary. Tom Curran fielding at long off not only saw the ball go for a boundary, but also went down in flames as he was going to retrieve the ball.
The flames out of nowhere frightened Tom Curran...

Pontings Iconic Statement
Ricky Ponting also yelled, “Flames out of nowhere,” making the moment even more iconic. Curran was caught by surprise by the fireworks while the commentary team were enjoying themselves.
This, however, didn’t affect the English all-rounder as he finished with the best figures in the match with 3/19 from his 4 overs and hit the winning shot to secure a win for his team. The moment might have been one of the funniest moments in the game, but Curran was the one who had the last laugh with an amazing spell of bowling and smashing a boundary over cover which sealed the victory for his team. Curran has shown why he is one of the most impactful players in the BBL. He has proven that he can overcome any situation no matter how embarrassing or comical.
