The star Afghanistan pacer, Naveen-ul-Haq once again finds himself under the spot light and making headlines. But, this time the allegation are little bit series. Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has received a 20-month suspension from the International League T20 (ILT20) for violating the terms of his contract with Sharjah Warriors.

Although initially signing with Sharjah Warriors for the inaugural season, Naveen declined an extension of the offer for the second season by refusing to sign the retention notice. After delivering noteworthy performances in the inaugural season, Sharjah expressed the desire to keep Naveen for the second season, intending to retain him under the same terms and conditions outlined in the Player Agreement.

However, a dispute surfaced between Naveen and the Sharjah Warriors, led the team seek intervention from the ILT20. To address the issue in a cooperative manner, the ILT20 initiated a mediation process involving an impartial third-party mediator. Despite these attempts, the mediation did not yield a successful resolution, leading to additional measures being taken.

He failed to honor his contractual obligations with the Sharjah Warriors: David White

After the mediation attempts proved unsuccessful, the ILT20 initiated an investigation by establishing a three-member Disciplinary Committee. The committee included Chief Executive Officer David White, Head of Security and Anti-Corruption Col. Azam, and Zayed Abbas, a member of the Emirates Cricket Board. After thoroughly reviewing the matter, the Disciplinary Committee issued it's conclusive decision of a 20-month ban on Naveen from the ILT20. In a statement issued by the press, White confirmed this outcome about stating that Naveen had not upheld his contractual responsibilities.

“We do not take pride in making this announcement but all parties are expected to comply with their contractual commitments and recognize that which non-compliance can cause damage to the other party. Unfortunately, Naveen-ul-Haq failed to honour his contractual obligations with the Sharjah Warriors, and as such that the league had no option but, to impose this 20-month ban on him,” said ILT20 CEO David White.
