India team lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India had won 10 matches during the tournament before the finals. They were expected to win the final match against Australia and emerge victorious at their home turf after 2011.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as India lost the finals by 6 wickets and the dreams of 1.4 billion people were shattered on November 19, 2023. Captain Rohit Sharma looked quite dejected after the loss and was seen almost in tears while walking back after the match was over.

Finally, after three weeks of that heart-wrenching loss, Rohit Sharma made an appearance before the public. He expressed himself through a heart-warming video by his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. It was Rohit Sharma’s first one-on-one conversation with the public after that momentous loss as Rohit shared his emotions with the Indian cricket fans.

‘It’s difficult to move on’- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma didn’t hold back his emotions in the video and shared with people that he still hasn’t moved on from that loss showing how important that World Cup meant for his career. He mentioned that the 50–50 World Cup has always been the pinnacle for him and he wanted to win the trophy desperately, but it wasn’t meant to be.

He said, “After the final, it was very hard to get back and start moving on, which is why I decided that I needed to get my mind out of this. But then, wherever I was, I realized that people were coming up to me and they were appreciating everyone’s effort, and how well we played. I feel for all of them. They all, along with us, were dreaming of lifting that World Cup, along with us”.

He further added, “I’ve always grown up watching the 50-50 over World Cup. To me, that was the ultimate prize, the 50-over World Cup. We’ve worked all these years, for that World Cup. And it is disappointing, right? If you don’t get through it, don’t get what you want, what you’ve been looking for all this while, what you were dreaming of. You get disappointed. You get frustrated as well at times.”

Rohit Sharma hints at potential T20 comeback for the World Cup

Rohit Sharma also thanked the Indian fans for supporting the team throughout the tournament and acknowledging the team’s dominant run in the tournament even after losing the finals. However, surprisingly at the end of the video, Rohit hints at his potential comeback for the T20 World Cup where he says that he is ready for another hit to get the glory.
