Cyclone Michaung has taken the south indian states by storm, quite literally. the cyclone has affected several regions and is creating a greusome affect in the lives of the people. It affect continues to terrify the south. The states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are heavily affected by it already. The storm is likely to pick up its pace and affect the states like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh a lot more in the upcoming days. 

There have been many people who have reportedly lost their homes due to the cyclone. Reports claim 8 people have lost their lives in the city of Chennai. A lot of trees and branches of small to medium sizes have been uprooted by the cyclone. Several huts and mud houses have collapsed. Some of the electric and telephone poles have also been damaged partially by the cyclone. 

The impact of the cyclone has been terrifying on Chennai. The international airport of the city was closed on Monday due to the impact of Michaung. Although rain has sopped on Tuesday, a huge part of the city has been submerged under the water. The weather forecase claim Puducherry and parts of Tamil Nadu to be affacted by low concentration of rain today. 

'Even if the rain stops, recovery is going to take a while' - Ravichandran Ashwin

Following the cyclone in the city, the cricket fraternity offered its prayers and concerns for Chennai and its people. The Tamil Nadu man and the Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin, took to X and posted the footage of the enormity of the cyclone. The 36-year-old asked the people to stay safe and live for another day. His tweet has gone viral on internet.

"Hang tight for another day everyone. Even if the rain stops, recovery is going to take a while #ChennaiRains2023 #Michaung," said Ashwin. In the footage, an electric pole was seen collapsing. As the world prays for the people affected, the cyclone does not seem to show any mercy. It is moving northwards towards the states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, which are likely to be affected by it going forward.
