Some call Sanju Samson the unluckiest cricketer to play for India to date while some term him one of the most talented yet reckless cricketers in Indian cricket.
People can’t fathom why such a talented cricketer hasn’t still been able to cement his place in the Indian Cricket team. Consistency has been a major issue with Samson over the years. A batter of Sanju’s caliber who has all the cricketing shots in his repertoire sometimes becomes a victim of his abilities as he does his undoing by playing too many shots.
But in the recent past, the right-hander has shown that he can be consistent too as he has an average of 55 in ODIs despite batting in the lower middle order in recent times. Therefore, ignoring the right-hander in the recent ODI has created a furor among his fans on social media.
The Kerala player hasn’t been very vocal over the scant chances he has been given at the international stage and has kept his feelings to himself but in a recent interview, Sanju opened up a bit about Rohit Sharma as a captain and reflected a bit on his career too.
Sanju Samson revealed what Rohit Sharma thought of him
An interview given on Dhanya Verma’s YouTube channel revealed that Sharma was only the first and second person who came and appreciated him for his performance in the IPL. He also revealed that Sharma had also supported him when he was with the team.
In the interview, he said, “Rohit Sharma was the first or second person who came to me and talked. He told me 'Hey Sanju, wassup. You performed well in the IPL but hit too many sixes against Mumbai Indians. You bat really well'. I had great support from him"
Samson also mentioned that people believe that I’m one of the unluckiest cricketers but he doesn’t think it that way. He says that whatever he has achieved till now is way beyond his expectations and he is very happy with where he is now. Sanju Samson will currently feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Kerala and will also lead Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024.
Sanju enjoys a huge fan following on social media and they reacted to his current statement on Rohit Sharma on “X” formerly Twitter. Some of the tweets by his fans are:
