The India vs England series has ended with the Indians winning a home series once again. The Indians have won their 17th consecutive Test series at home with just one game to go at Dharamshala. This has been a series filled with some great matches that have gone on for 4 days. This might be a series where the young players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel and Shoaib Bashir might have impressed on this tour, but there have also been some senior players who have come to the party as well such as Rohit Sharma and James Anderson.
James Anderson was still looking good in these conditions taking 8 wickets in the 3 matches. However, there was one player the veteran pacer will be missing who is none other than Virat Kohli. These two legendary players have been a part of some of the greatest battles in Test cricket. On one hand, Virat is averaging over 40 against Anderson scoring 305 runs against him. On the other side, Anderson has got the Kings number 7 times as well. We all think this might be the battle everyone has missed.
James Anderson on Kohli’s absence
Virat had to withdraw completely from the series due to personal reasons. This was disappointing for the fans and Anderson as well. The pacer went on to state in an interview with Jio Cinema saying, “Yeah, you always want to play against the best players and it's been a shame that he's not been a part of the series. The 42-year-old pacer ended his statement saying “ We have had some great battles over the years. But not just for me, I think as a team you want to play against the best in the world and he certainly is that.”
These words from the veteran pacer were enough to give us a glimpse of the history these two have shared with each other. It was always Virat Kohli welcoming him with a cover drive or Anderson trapping outside off stump. It was always a neck and neck battle between these two players. With Anderson well and truly in the last phase of his career, it seems unlikely that we will get to see these two go at it again. However we will never know since the game of cricket does have its moments.
