" It's been a little while since I've been involved....." Mitchell Starc expresses his excitement after becoming costliest player in IPL history

The Indian Premier League(IPL) Auction 2024 featured one of the iconic moments in IPL history as Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in IPL after being sold to Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) for 24.75 cr. These are big expectations from the Tall fast bowler as he will make his return in the league since the last time he played an IPL game was in 2015. It will be a test for Starc to come back into the spotlight among other great players in the league after missing out for 8 years. There is no doubt that Starc will be one of the key bowlers for the Knight Riders with his pace and swing. He could also solve the pace bowling issue which KKR were struggling with in the last tournament.

Starc might not have one of the longest careers in the IPL, but his performances in international cricket and other leagues have been impressive, in fact his numbers in the IPL are decent as well with 34 wickets in 27 games at an average of 20.38 and economy of 7.17. His performance for Australia in T20 internationals are impressive as well with over 70 wickets from 58 games. It is to no surprise that the pacer from New South Wales is in demand with a decorated career with over 600 international wickets and  over 150 wickets in his T20 career.

Starc first started with a heartfelt message to KKR saying that he is glad to be joining the team and can’t wait to arrive at Eden Gardens on X saying “Hey, KKR fans; I'm thrilled to be joining the team for this year's IPL. And I can't wait to get to Eden Gardens to experience the home fans, the home crowd and the atmosphere. I look forward to seeing you then. Ami KKR”. This message go a lot of positive response from the fans who are happy to see him back in the IPL as well.

He further expressed his excitement in an interview with JIO cinema with a positive statement saying “It's been a little while since I've been involved, but I'm really excited to get my name in the auction and to be joining KKR this upcoming season. So, yeah, thrilled to be joining". This shows the level of excitement and enjoyment Starc has on returning to the league after a long time. This will be a big test for him to live up to the price tag, but it’s good to see him in a positive mindset going into the tournament.
