Ishan Kishan misses last round of Ranji Trophy even after directive from Indian Cricket board secretary

With the India vs England Test series going on and the board giving importance to the World Test Championship(WTC), There is still the importance of playing first-class cricket. Players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane are still featuring in the Ranji Trophy in hopes of making a comeback into the national side. With players like Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan getting their chances after great first-class performances, the board has made it clear that even the established players will have to play some first-class cricket to either be a part of the national squad or prepare for the longest format.

Even the Indian Cricket board secretary has made an official directive mentioning that all the contracted players have to give importance to red ball domestic cricket as well. Some players are following this and are currently playing in the Ranji Trophy. However, some players have not been following this directive and are losing out on some big series in international cricket. One of those players are Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer who have not featured in the domestic tournaments.

Kishan still not featured in the tournament

Ishan Kishan is one of the upcoming players who has also lost out on his Test career due to not following this directive. Ishan was told by the management and staff as well that to make a comeback into the squad, he would have to play some domestic cricket. Ishan had to exclude himself from the South Africa series due to mental fatigue. After this, the talented wicketkeeper batter has not featured in the series against Afghanistan and has also missed out on the England series. Kishan was also not seen in the last Ranji game where he was supposed to play for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy.

We all know how talented Ishan Kishan is with his performances in white ball cricket and the Indian Premier League(IPL). The young pocket dynamo had also made a good start to his career in his debut series against the West Indies as well. We don’t want to see him waste his entire career due to not following a simple directive by the board. There were big things ahead of Kishan and he seems to be ruining his chances of playing some competitive international. It might be the best idea for the 25-year-old southpaw to listen to the advice of the management and secure his future in the game.
