The cricket world witnessed a breathtaking display of skill and determination as Glenn Maxwell played an outstanding innings in the third T20I between Australia and India on November 28 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. His unbeaten 104 off 48 deliveries, comprising eight boundaries and an equal number of sixes, not only secured victory for Australia but also injected new life into the ongoing series.

Glenn Maxwell's remarkable innings showed his prowess as a versatile and impactful batsman. The aggressive yet calculated approach displayed left spectators and fellow cricketers in awe. It’s the big show’s second innings within a month in which he pulled off a near impossible match in favor of Australia. Known for keeping things straight-forward and his tongue-in cheek humor, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra shared his thoughts on Glenn Maxwell’s hurricane knock in the 3rd T20I between India and Australia.

In a post-match analysis, Nehra expressed his admiration for Maxwell's batting style, stating, "With the way he was batting (always looked like he was going to do it). In these conditions, in a 200-plus chase, he will always back himself." Nehra also highlighted Maxwell's penchant for taking on tough challenges, a trait that sets him apart in the cricketing world.

Nehra went on to emphasize that even if Maxwell had not played in the T20I series and not hit this century, his contributions to Australia's victorious 2023 ODI World Cup squad would have made him return home content. However, the outstanding innings in the T20I series added an extra layer of joy to Maxwell's homecoming.

Consistency in Maxwell's Performances

Nehra pointed out the noticeable shift in Maxwell's performances, noting a higher level of consistency compared to earlier hit-and-miss innings. "This is not the first time he has done something like this. But earlier, it was more hit-and-miss, but these days, there is more consistency," Nehra remarked. The increased reliability of Maxwell's contributions bodes well for Australia, as highlighted by Nehra's insights.

The third T20I match was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. India posted a formidable total of 222 for 3, thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad's sensational unbeaten 123. In the second innings, Travis Head gave Australia a brisk start, but it was the Maxwell show that turned the tide in Australia's favor. The team ultimately secured victory by five wickets, setting the stage for an exciting fourth T20I in Raipur on Friday, December 1.
