In the 18th match of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia, fans witnessed a remarkable fielding display that left them amazed. On Tuesday, October 31, at the WACA in Perth, the Sydney Sixers, captained by Ellyse Perry, competed against the Perth Scorchers. Meanwhile, Sixers' star player Erin Burns exhibited an exceptional fielding effort at the mid-wicket boundary, leaving spectators astonished.

In the final moments of the game, Alana King was up against Ashleigh Gardner on the last delivery of the Scorchers' inning. Gardner aimed to keep the ball away from King's reach by bowling it outside off, but King swung hard at it, resulting in a less-than-perfect connection. Burns, positioned near the mid-wicket fence, expertly caught the ball.

However, she soon realised that her momentum was carrying her over the boundary. Actively responding, she tossed the ball back into play before leaping in the air, ensuring it remained within the field. Her quick reflexes saved crucial runs, limiting the Scorchers to just a couple of runs in the end.

Amy Edgar and Alana King won the game for the Scorchers

In the match, the Perth Scorchers beat the Sydney Sixers by 36 runs, as the Sixers suffered their fourth loss in five games this season. Spin bowlers Amy Edgar (4-19) and Alana King (2-17 and 33) shone for the Scorchers. They contributed significantly to the Scorchers win, which kept last year's finalists at the bottom of the WBBL table. The Scorchers, opting to bat first, made a strong start with openers Beth Mooney (32 off 25) and Chlore Piparo (20 off 14) propelling them to 53 runs in the sixth over.

However, a sudden collapse led to the loss of four wickets for just 20 runs, credited to the sharp fielding of the Sixers, notably Lauren Cheatle, who took two impressive catches. Despite the efforts of Sophie Devine and Amy Jones, the Scorchers' momentum was halted by Ash Gardner's exceptional bowling performance (3-38).

It was then Alana King who changed the game, displaying her batting prowess by smashing a career-best 33 off just 14 balls, guiding her team to a challenging total of 166. While the Sixers began their pursuit of the target strongly, their middle-order batters couldn't maintain the initial momentum, leading to the Scorchers' triumph in this highly competitive match.
