The U19 World Cup final ended in the most disappointing fashion for the Indian team once again. The Australia U19 team chose to bat on a tricky surface in Benoni. The Indian bowlers did put the breaks on the scoring in some phases, but knocks from Harry Dixon, skipper Hugh Weigben, Harjas Singh and Oliver Peake were enough to get their team to a competitive total of 253 in their 50 overs.  This was also the highest total in a U19 World Cup final and was certainly going to be a challenge for them, especially in the all-important final.

The Indian U19 batters needed one big partnership to get ahead of the Aussie total, which they failed to do completely. Despite some decent knocks from Adarsh Singh and Murugan Abhishek, it was a poor performance with the bat by men in blue. Even the top batters of the tournament for India like Musheer Khan, Arshin Kulkarni and Uday Saharan were no match for the Australia U19 bowling attack who bowled them out for a paltry score of 174 and won the game by 79 runs, winning their 4th title.

Pathan speaks on negative reception

Before Australia reached the final, they got over the line after beating Pakistan U19 in the final. This has still led to Pakistan cricket fans troll the Indian team after facing defeat in the final. India former pacer Irfan Pathan had a lot to say about these comments by the fans saying “ Despite their U19 team not making it to the final, keyboard warriors from across the border find pleasure in our youngsters' defeat.” He ended the statement on social media saying that the negative attitude reflects poorly on the nations mindset.

There is still the disappointment from the Indian fans who have once again seen their team lose another major final. It is heartbreaking for everyone to witness this, the attitude of the Pakistan fans on social media have always been to troll the Indian team. The reply from Pathan towards these comments might not be the best thing to do, but we cannot ignore the fact that there is some truth to the statement as well. The game of cricket is filled with wins and losses, which are the part and parcel of the game. It is always great to be a champion, but it is much better to act like champions as well.
