The Indian cricket team is touching new heights in the cricketing world with great talents in their ranks right now. The number of talented players in the Indian team is remarkable. We have seen some great cricketers throughout the journey of this team, right from Sunil Gavaskar to Virat Kohli who have been one of the best players in the world right now due to their consistent performances. The India Women have also been getting stronger with a lot of great players in their squad which started to grow since the introduction of Mithali Raj. There is no doubt we have experienced some great moments in Indian cricket which we will remember for the rest of our lives.

The Naman Awards by the Indian Cricket Board are an award celebrating the players and the moments of Indian cricket. These awards have featured some great cricketers who have given great performances to achieve these accolades. These awards were started by the board in 2006 and have been going on for more than 15 years now. There were a lot of great performances by Indian cricket which were brought up in the 2024 awards as well. Since the awards could not be given after the 2019  edition due to the COVID-19 years, there were prizes given for the seasons which were missed out on.

The big winners at the awards

There have been a lot of great cricketers who have featured in this list of winners who have given great performances in their lifetime. The highest wicket-taker for women in ODI’s went to Poonam Yadav for the 2019-20 season, Jhulan Goswami for the 2020-21 season, Rajeshwari Gayakwad for the 2021-22 season and Devika Vaidya for the 2022-23 season. The highest runs scorers also feature some great players with Punam Raut(2019-20), Mithali Raj(2020-21), Harmanpreet Kaur(2021-22) and Jemimah Rodrigues( 2022-23) being the winners. The best international debuts for these four seasons have been equally impressive with Priya Punia(2019-20), Shefali Verma(2020-21), Sabbhineni Meghana(2021-22), Amanjot Kaur(2022-23) winning among the women and Mayank Agarwal(2019-20), Axar Patel(2020-21), Shreyas Iyer(2021-2022), Yashasavi Jaiswal winning among the men.

Looking at the big awards it was Ravichandran Ashwin and Yashasavi Jaiswal who won the award for the most Test runs and wickets respectively with their great performances. The best international cricketers among the men were Mohammed Shami(2019-20), Ravichandran Ashwin(2020-21), Jasprit Bumrah( 2021-2022) and Shubman Gill (2022-23) whereas in the Women’s category it went to Smriti Mandhana for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 season and Deepti Sharma for 2019-20 and 2022-23. The lifetime achievement award went to one of the greatest keepers in his time Farokh Engineer and Ex India coach and former star all-rounder Ravi Shastri. These awards gave us memories of all the great performances by the Indian players which we enjoyed watching.
