Babar Azam is well-known for his beautiful cover drives and elegant shot-making on the field, but off the field too, he is known for his calm and composed demeanour. Whether it has been wishing Kohli luck on social media during his bad phase or presenting Afghanistan Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz with his bat after losing to Afghanistan in a critical World Cup match, Babar has won the hearts of millions of Cricket fans all around the World with his kind gestures time and time again.

The Pakistan skipper is going through a tough time in this ODI World Cup as his team is on the verge of getting out of the tournament and Babar Azam himself hasn’t been able to convert good starts into big innings so far which hasn’t helped his team’s cause. But in this tough phase also, Babar showed a big heart and proved why he is respected so much in the cricketing circle.

In a recent interview given to the home broadcaster, Star Sports, he revealed that in the current generation Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Kane Williamson are the batsmen he admires the most. He further revealed that their abilities to read the conditions well and bat accordingly to get their team out of difficult situations is why Babar Azam admires them the most and what to emulate the same things in his batting.

In the Interview, Babar Azam said, “Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Kane Williamson are my favourite batters in the world. They're the top players in the world. They read the conditions well, that's why they are the best. I admire them.”

He further stated, “The best thing I like about Virat, Rohit, and Kane is how they get the team out of difficult situations and score runs against tough bowling. This is what I try to learn from them.”

Babar Azam’s mediocre World Cup continues

Babar Azam has recently received a lot of flak from Pakistan for his average World Cup campaign so far as Pakistan has only managed to win two out of the six matches they have played so far. He has been accused of selecting players based on his liking and disliking and has been criticized severely for the tactical blunders he has made so far in the World Cup.

On the batting front, Babar Azam has not been up to his standards. He has scored 207 runs so far at an average of 34.50 with a below-par strike rate of 79. To salvage his pride and have any glimmer of hope to qualify for the next stages Babar Azam will have to score big runs with the bat and need to be proactive with his captaincy tactics.
