According to the recent reports the Indian Cricket Board was not happy with the fact that some prominent players choosing to sit out of the Ranji Trophy matches not being selected for the Indian team or having some injury concerns. The Indian Cricket Board even sent an email to all the contracted and India A players to not miss domestic games without any prominent reasons.
The stern warning from the Indian Cricket Board came in the wake of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer missing the Ranji matches for their respective domestic sides despite being out of contention for selection in the national team. Recently, there were also reports as well regarding the axing of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the Indian Cricket Board’s central contract list.
Amid all this, even the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also addressed this issue after the 4th Test when he said that only those who show the zeal and effort to play for the national test team will be considered.
Shreyas Iyer finally returns to domestic cricket
After all the recent buzz there have been some positive developments as Shreyas Iyer who was dropped from the Indian team after the 2nd test vs England has decided to play for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy.
After being dropped from the national team, Iyer opted out of the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy citing back issues. But things heated up after Indian Express reported that he had been cleared by the Indian Cricket Board’s medical team to play but he still chose not to play. Ishan Kishan who also missed domestic games for Jharkhand is currently playing in the corporate T20 tournament which is a preparatory tournament for the IPL.
Indian Cricket Board to raise player’s fee in Tests
According to some strong reports, in the wake of the recent events the Indian Cricket Board has decided to raise the fee match fee for the players. Apart from that they are also planning to reward those players who will play all the test series that will take place during the year which is a step in the right direction.
Currently, the Indian Cricket Board provides players with Rs 15 lakh per Test match. For One-Day Internationals (ODIs), the governing body offers Rs 6 lakh per match, and for T20 Internationals (T20Is), players receive Rs 3 lakh per match.
