The Afghanistan team is loved all over the world but the kind of affection and fan following the Afghanistan players enjoy in India is surreal. Earlier, the second team that Indian fans used to support in major events after India was New Zealand, but now Afghanistan, as a team, is taking that place in the hearts of Indian fans.

The Afghanistan team has been a revelation in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they finished at the 6th spot in the points table above teams like defending champions England, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh and if not for Maxwell’s bizarre innings, they would have qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The one key player for Afghanistan’s success in this World Cup has been their attacking opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who has played some impactful innings in this World Cup. But today, this dynamite batter did something off the field that has won the hearts of millions of Indian fans.

A recent video of Rahmanuulah Gurbaz emerged where he was seen distributing money to the people sleeping on the streets on the auspicious festival of Diwali. In the video, it can be seen that Gurbaz parked his vehicle in the wee hours of November 12 to distribute money to the needy people sleeping at the curbs without them knowing.

Diwali is known as the festival of lights and Rahmullah, with his efforts to bring some light in the lives of needy people, has won over the people of India. Almost all the Afghanistan players of India are loved in India for the spirit with which they play the game.

India-Afghanistan ties are stronger than ever before

India has always been welcoming to the Afghanistan players and some of their players such as Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi are IPL superstars. The Indian Cricket Board has facilitated the Afghanistan players with proper infrastructure facilities by giving the Afghanistan team a base for training in Dehradun and Noida.

Even Afghanistan Hashmatullah Shahidi praised the Indian crowd after their victory against Sri Lanka in Pune. He said, “I want to congratulate all the Afghanistan supporters and especially want to thank the Indian fans for coming out and supporting us."
