Mirabai Chanu won silver in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014, and she won gold at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018. The star also won gold at Anaheim World Championships in 2017. She announced herself to the world by winning silver in the Olympic Championship 2020.

Amid huge expectations, Mirabai Chanu entered the arena at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The star took some time to calm down and needless to say, she lifted 201 (88+113) kg in the end. She ended up in first place to grab the gold medal. Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa landed second by lifting a total of 172 kg. Canada’s Hannah Kaminski ended up third by lifting 171 (74+97) kg.

Mirabai Chanu defended her gold and impressed the nation once again. In the 60 kg category, Mirabai went a step ahead and lifted 86 kg in the first attempt. The star athlete looked at ease and matched her personal best of 88 kg in the second attempt. Mirabai aimed to lift 90 kg in her third attempt, which did not go as planned.

Mirabai then lifted 109 kg in the clean and jerk round and confirmed the gold for India. Her second attempt at a 113 kg lift was successful as well. She tried to go a step ahead and lift 115 kg but failed to lift the same. Indian flag was raised high and the nation stood up to applaud the genius once again.
