Manika Batra won her first match against South Africa’s Musfiquh Kalam in Table Tennis at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Earlier, Team India women’s table tennis team won their match against the South African team. The start has inspired the Indian contingent and they have started marking their victories for India.

Indian pair of Reeth Tennison and Sreeja Akula beat the South African pair in three sets by 11-7, 11-7, 11-5. Manika Batra won her game with 11-5, 11-3 and 11-2. Manika’s win gave India a 2-0 lead. This adds to the fact that Indian athletes are stepping closer to winning a medal with every passing match.

The round 2 qualifications will take place at 8:30 pm. They are very well ahead and in form.

India starts Commonwealth Games 2022 with a bang

Indian women’s cricket team is currently playing against the Australian women’s cricket team. Australia is currently the favourite to win the match. And it might require a strong fight from the Indian women to reign over Australia. Women’s cricket made history with its first appearance in the Commonwealth Games.

Other Indian athletes are on the verge of making their mark in the multi-sport event.

Commonwealth Games 2022 flags off with a grand opening ceremony

Commonwealth Games 2022 started with a grand opening ceremony. PV Sindhu and Manpreet Singh were the flag bearers for India. The Indian contingent will play 140+ events in 19 different sports. The young contingent looked confident and in nice touch as they waved the Indian flag high up in the sky.

The build-up to the multi-sport event has been lavish. England’s second-largest city, Birmingham is hosting the Commonwealth Games this year. Alexander Stadium hosted the opening ceremony, with thousands attending it and millions rooted for their country right from the comfort of their homes.

Commonwealth Games will be held until August 8. Birmingham city is lit up with lights and painted with colours to root for the event. India is currently the favourite to top the medal tally. The athletes will have to make the dreams of billions come true.
