Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 4 results: India’s performance on day 4

India excelled on Day 4 with many athletes performing way above par.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 are lighting up Birmingham city until August 8. The Indian contingent has given the best so far and the medal race is on. India has bagged 9 medals so far. 7 of them have come from the weightlifting category. Shushila Devi and Vijay Kumar Yadav won silver and bronze for India respectively in Judo. With 9 medals, India is currently at rank six in the medal tally.

Here’s how the Indian team players performed on Day 4 of the Commonwealth Games 2022:

Squash:

Saurav Ghoshal defeated Greg Lobban with a 3-1 lead to enter the semi-finals. Sunayna Sara Kuruvilla won against Chanithma Sinaly with a 3-0 in the women’s single plate quarterfinal. Joshna Chinappa lost to Hollie Naughton with a 3-0 lead for Naughton.

Artistic Gymnastics:

Pranati finished fifth in the Women’s vault final. She had a score of 12.699.

Lawn Bowls:

Rupa Rani Tirkey, Nayanmoni Saikia, Pinki and Lovely Choubey defeated New Zealand 16-13 to qualify for the final. The Indian Lawn Bowls women’s four-team made history as they qualified for the final. They will face South Africa in the final on Tuesday.

Badminton:

Lakshya Sen ensured that he reigned over Loh Kean to give India 3-0 against Singapore to reach the mixed team final. PV Sindhu played exceptionally well to give India a 2-0 lead. Satwiksairaj Reddy and Chirag Shetty outsmarted Yong Kai Terry Hee and Andu Jun Kian Kwek with a 21-11 and 21-12 lead. This ensured a 3-0 lead and the mixed team qualified for the finals after a tough fight in the third match by Lakshya Sen.

Hockey:

Indian men’s hockey team locked horns with England. The match ended in a draw with 4-4.

Cycling Men’s 1000m Time Trial:

Ronaldo finished 12th in the final with a timing of 1:02:500 minutes.

Cycling:

Triyasha was thrashed out of the multi-sport event after finishing second from the bottom. Shushikala Agashe also is out of the final contention.

Swimming and Para Swimming:

Sajan Prakash finished seventh in heats of men’s 100m butterfly with 54.36 timings. He is out of contention for the finals. Suyash Narayan Jadhav and Niranjan Mukundan finished 5th and 7th respectively in Men’s 50m Freestyle S7 Final. Srihari Nataraj finished fifth with 25.23 seconds in Men’s 50m Backstroke final.

Weightlifting:

Harjinder lifted a total of 212kg in the 71kg women category and won bronze for India.

Ajay Singh finished fourth in the 81kg Men’s category lifting a total of 319kg.

Boxing:

Amit Panghal was all over Namri Berri. He defeated Berri with a 5-0 lead to enter the Men’s Flyweight quarterfinal. Ashish Kumar beat Travis Tapatuetoa with a 5-0 lead to enter the quarterfinal of the Men’s Light Heavyweight category. Hussamuddin thrashed Bangladesh’s Salim Hossain with a 5-0 lead to enter the quarterfinal of the Men’s Featherweight category.
