Neeraj Chopra, recently, became the second Indian to win a medal in World Athletics Championships after bagging a silver medal. However, in a recent development, it has been revealed by the secretary of the Olympic Association, India, that Neeraj Chopra might miss the Commonwealth Games 2022. Neeraj Chopra won the World Athletics Championship with an 88.13-meter throw. He missed out on the gold, as Anderson Peters clinched it with a 90.42-meter throw.

After the historic victory, Neeraj Chopra told to the Times of India that his next target is Commonwealth Games 2022. However, the athlete also admitted that he had suffered an injury and would know the status soon. It has now come to the limelight that the same injury had ruled him out of the event. Rajeev Mehta, the secretary of the Olympic Association, India has revealed the news.

“He (Neeraj Chopra) is not fit as he got injured in the finals of World Athletics Championships. He informed us about this,” Rajeev Mehta said to ANI. “I thought even the fourth throw could have gone farther. After that, I felt something on my thigh and could not do my best in the next two,” Neeraj said to the Times of India. This comes as a huge blow to the Indian contingent with the event just around the corner.

Neeraj Chopra took the world by storm after winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The athlete kept making the headlines with his continuous achievements, since. Amid high expectations, the news has shocked the sporting world. He earlier said to the Times of India that he had his eyes set on gold. However, his dreams have now taken a hit after getting injured.

This setback should increase his hunger and would pave way to make a strong comeback. Setbacks are a common part of life for an athlete and it has been the same for the golden boy. With tremendous positive vibrations going around, it is sure that Neeraj Chopra will achieve great heights in the coming years.
