Commonwealth Games 2022: All you need to know about the opening ceremony

The most awaited day is finally here. Amidst the scorching heat wave, Birmingham will host the Commonwealth Games 2022 from today. With bands, music, and a bright smile, the players will be welcomed. With posters and boards all around, the city is painted with colours. England’s second-largest city is ready to host a two-week festival of sports.

Since the Olympics in London 2012, England have not hosted a mega event. Almost after a decade, an event of such distinction is taking place. Amid Women’s Euros buzz, the breeze of the Commonwealth Games is capturing people slowly and steadily. Flag bearers are all set to take pride in holding their national flags. For India, it will be PV Sindhu who’ll be the flag bearer, once again.

“The Destroyers” team is all set to take on the stage to entertain the masses. A choir of more than 700 individuals from the West Midlands will also be a part of the event. With colors adding beauty to the event, the town is calm. The Games Village is full of players who’ll be making records in a matter of time.

All 72 Commonwealth nations will be a part of this massive multi-sport event. The chords of the pianos, the synchronization of the choir, the cheers of fans, the hand waves of the players, the busy streets and the flags of nations will dominate today’s opening ceremony. The Queen will reportedly miss the event. Prince Charles will be attending the event. Black Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi will also be a part of this colorful opening ceremony.

Opening Ceremony Date: The opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held on July 28, Thursday.

Opening Ceremony Commencement Time: The opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2022 will begin at 7pm local time (11:30 pm Indian Standard Time)

Venue for the Opening Ceremony: Birmingham, the second largest city in England will host the opening ceremony. The grand Alexandar Stadium in Birmingham will host the event.

Live telecast of the Opening Ceremony: The Sony Sports network will provide the live telecast of the opening ceremony. Sony TEN 1, 2, 3, 4 and Sony SIX will telecast the event. Apart from it, DD Sports will also telecast the opening ceremony.
