'Comeback karo toh bada karo' - Fans react as KL Rahul scores a fabulous hundred against Pakistan on his ODI return

The comeback of KL Rahul was long awaited by the Indian fans. The wait of the fans has been worth it, as the star batter has made a resounding comeback and scored a fabulous ton on his return. The 31-year-old scored his 6th ODI hundred and helped team India to get past 350 runs in their 50 overs. Along with Virat Kohli, Rahul framed a fantastic partnership that kept Pakistan out of the game. 

Rahul scored an unbeaten 111 runs in 106 balls which included 12 fours and 2 sixes. The most impressive thing about the knock was the new range of shots. Rahul is usually someone who scores most of his runs through the V. But in his comeback, Rahul scored a lot of runs behind the square. For someone returning to the side, scoring runs that way was highly impressive. 

Newly developed shots productive for KL Rahul

Rahul played some lovely drives, mostly lofted ones. But it was his cut shot and newly innovative sweep shots that took the cake. Rahul swept the spinners well. Against pacers and spinners, Rahul cut the ball well. Both were productive for the middle-order batter. As a result, the India number 4 could make up for the dot balls that he played to get set in the middle. 

At the start of the innings, Rahul played some dot balls and struggled to rotate strike. But with the progression of the innings, the Mangalore-born cricketer showed glimpses of his old touch. The fans would be happy with the kind of innings Rahul played. Though Rahul is yet to be at his absolute best, the fans can hope that their star batter can return to his self-best. 

Against an attack consisting of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Iftikhar Ahmed, Rahul played a very good knock. Rahul gave a good support to Kohli and helped India to get past the mark of 350 runs. The form of Rahul can solve a lot of problems for the Indian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
