CJ McCollum is all set to stay with New Orleans Pelicans as it has been revealed that the player has agreed to a two-year extension contract with the team. Speaking of the point guard in the Pelicans, he had a good stint last year with 24.3 points. He has been an integral part of the basketball team and gelled well within the squad.

The Pelicans bowed out in the first round against Phoenix Suns last year. As per Adrian Wojnarowski, the player has agreed to a two-year extension contract at a sum of $64 million. With this extension, the point guard is expected to stay in the team until the 2025/26 season. CJ McCollum would hope to continue doing his best for New Orleans Pelicans.

“New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum has agreed on a two-year, $64 million extension that’ll take him through 2025-2026, his agent Sam Goldfeder of @Excelbasketball tells ESPN. New deal ties McCollum to Pels for four years and $133M,” Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted.

CJ McCollum opens up on his future at the Pels

The Pels would look to make the most after retaining their best player. Meanwhile, CJ McCollum expressed his excitement ahead of the 2022/23 season. The Ohio-born said that he wanted to do well for the team and was also delighted about the coming days in the future.

"I can assure you we won’t start (next season) however we started (this season), based on experience, understanding and preparation. I’m excited to go through a full training camp and really be with the team from the beginning, as opposed to coming in on the fly," he said.

"I’m excited about the future, I’m excited to get back to work. For all of us, the motivation is there, understanding how close we were (vs. the Suns), but how far we have to go. Playing against a championship-calibre team is always an eye-opening experience and kind of shows you how to get to that point," CJ McCollum was quoted as saying.

The point guard is a worthy addition to any team and the Pels have won it so far. On the other hand, the team under Willi Green will look to get off to a flier.
