The Legends Lounge on Jio Cinema is fast becoming the talk of the cricketing town where the veterans like Chris Gayle, Scott Styris, Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel, Anil Kumble and Robin Uthappa came together to discuss various topics from the Indian T20 League and picking the best XI. It was not it as the players opined the toughest batters they have bowled to or in the case of batters, the toughest bowlers they have faced.

When Gayle was asked about the toughest bowler he had to face in the Indian T20 League, the southpaw went out of the board and named a pacer who is yet to dismiss him in the highly-competitive tournament. To add more, the West Indies legend snubbed Ravichandran Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh from the ‘challenging bowlers faced’ list and named an Indian pacer.

Saying that Jasprit Bumrah was the toughest one he had to face, Gayle did not think twice as he came up with the name. Further, the Caribbean legend claimed that he was not willing to name Harbhajan or Ashwin ahead of the right-armer. Notably, Bumrah caused havoc in the previous editions and it remains to be seen if the right-armer would gain full fitness ahead of the approaching season.

Difficult to play his slow ball: Chris Gayle

The West Indian southpaw said that it was difficult for him to pick Bumrah’s slower balls and said that he was not able to read his bowling at all. The right-arm pacer was missed by India in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 with the Rohit Sharma-led team getting knocked out on the back of a 10-wicket defeat against England in the semi-finals.

“Bumrah absolutely. I am not gonna pick an off-spinner like Bhajji or Ashwin, but definitely Bumrah. You just can’t seem to get him. Difficult to play his slow ball, his variations are very, very unique. I pick Bumrah,” Gayle was quoted as saying in the Legends Lounge show. The Men in Blue would hope for the fiery pacer’s return in the 50-over World Cup set to take place in India later this year.
