The Caribbean Premier League 2022 is all set to get underway from September 1 and will go on until October 1 with Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots locking horns in the season opener at Warner Park, St Kitts. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will enter the tenth edition of the league as the defending champions while Jamaica Tallawahs will look to turn over their results from last year as they had a mediocre run.

Here's the match preview for the season opener of CPL 2022 between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots:

Team News:

Jamaica Tallawahs

Jamaica Tallawahs missed out on the great opportunity to go big in the last matches as their power hitters let them down on most of the occasions in the previous season. However, the team would look to turn things around this season and gain the throne by beating the defending champions in their first clash of the season.

Players to watch out for:

1) Fabien Allen:

Fabien Allen, the all-rounder will be the player to watch out for the Tallawahs given his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. An asset for any team he plays for, Tallawahs must use the best out of him and manage him well to get the best results. He will go big in the first match against the Patriots and can pick a scalp or two.

2) Brandon King:

Brandon King fared out well for the national team against India and will look to emulate the same in the opening match. The flexibility that he provides can come in handy for his team and may also come in the late order to shift gears albeit he opens on most occasions.

3) Mohammad Amir:

The Pakistani pacer can be brutal and given that the team has not had a good outing last year, he will look to fire from ball one. The opposition batters must be ready to face the wrath as he can destroy the batting unit single-handedly.

Predicted Playing XI: Rovman Powell (c), Brandon King, Kennar Lewis (wk), Shamarh Brooks, Fabian Allen, Chris Green, Mohammad Amir, Shamar Springer, Nicholas Gordon, Imad Wasim, Raymon Reifer

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots:

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots had an excellent season last year as they beat St Lucia Kings in the finals of the ninth edition. Entering the competition as the defending champions might give them a huge boost and would look to emulate the same energy from the previous season.

Players to watch out for:

1) Darren Bravo:

The left-handed veteran will have to contribute with the bat for the Patriots in the middle order. Although his strike rate can be a concern, he will get a go-ahead owing to his experience and might as well guide the youngsters at the other end.

2) Dwyane Bravo:

The skipper is one of the best all-rounders in the T20 format and needless to say, his campaign with the Chennai team in the Indian T20 League has been fantastic. The champion will do his best as a skipper and also as an all-rounder and is the most anticipated player in tomorrow's match to watch out for.

3) Sheldon Cottrell:

The sheer pacer can ruin the dreams of the defending champions if he gets his length and line right. On any given day, the bowler can be an asset for the team that he plays for and he will look to bring more of his royal salute in the first match.

Predicted Playing XI: Dwayne Bravo (c), Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Dominic Drakes, Sheldon Cottrell, Darren Bravo, Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Izharulhaq Naveed, Dewald Brevis

Pitch Report:

The match will be played at Warner Park, St Kitts and the surface favors bowling and teams winning the toss must look to field first. The teams fielding first have won on most of the occasions and it will be crucial to chase the target down at this ground.
