The Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2022 ended on October 5, Wednesday and India Capitals locked horns with Bhilwara Kings in the summit clash. The two teams were brilliant right throughout and deserved to be in the finals of this gilt-edged tournament.
Commenting on the toss, the Kings’ skipper Irfan Pathan won it and elected to field first. India Capitals had a shaky start as openers Gautam Gambhir and Dwayne Smith returned to the pavilion in quick succession. The Capitals’ poor start turned out to be a nightmare one as they lost two more wickets in the powerplay and looked in deep trouble. At the end of the field restrictions, the Capitals scored 28 runs and lost 4 wickets.
However, post that, Mitchell Johnson and Ross Taylor joined hands to put on a 126-run partnership for the fifth wicket and both players reached the 50-run landmark. After the duo made their way back, Ashley Nurse provided the finishing touch and secured a massive total of 211 at the end of the first innings.
India Capitals emerge the winners of LLC
With regards to the Kings’ chase, the Irfan-led team scored 48 runs and lost three wickets at the end of the powerplay. Morne van Wyk, William Porterfield and Yusuf Pathan were the three players that did not withstand the wrath of the Capitals’ bowlers in the first six overs.
Commenting on the middle overs, the Kings’ batters could not find a decent partnership after the initial hiccups and started foundering at a quick pace. The likes of Jesal Karia, Irfan Pathan, and Rajesh Bishnoi did not last long and perished for cheap scores of 22, 2 and 1.
India Capitals bowled the Kings out for 107 runs and won the match by a mammoth 104 runs. With this win, the Gambhir-led team claimed the title and provided a fairy tale end to the tournament. Twitter, on the other hand, went berserk as fans kept coming up with tweets to congratulate the title winners.
