Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 14 runs on Tuesday to earn their third straight victory in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The five-time champions are on a winning streak after losing their first two matches, which saw them move up to sixth in the points table. However, as the tournament progresses, some players' inconsistent performance, particularly their star batter Suryakumar Yadav's dismal form, remains as a concern for them.

Surya played a good knock against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to help MI to register their second win by five wickets. The 32-year-old scored 43 off 25 with a strike rate of 172, and everyone thought he was back in form. However, he played another disappointing innings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, getting dismissed for seven runs off 3 balls.

Batting at number 4, Surya opened his account with a single off SRH pacer Marco Jansen in the 12th over. The next delivery he faced, he smashed it for a six over long leg, making everyone believe that SKY is back. However, it was a wrong hint from the Mumbai player as he was dismissed the very next ball by Jansen. A cutter form the young bowler, Sky chipped it towards left of mid off and SRH skipper Aiden Markram flew across to complete a stunning catch.

SKY is not the same after those 3 ducks against Australia

The World No 1 T20I batter has been going through a tough phase of his career so far this year. His worst patch began in the ODI series against Australia in March, when he was dismissed for three consecutive ducks in the three-match series.

However, fans thought that SKY would be in rhythm in the T20 league, but the story was no different as he has scored just 66 runs at an average of 13.20 in five matches so far in the 2023 IPL. Going forward in the tournament, Rohit Sharma and Co will definitely need Surya's firework to keep them in contention to lift the title for the sixth time.

Here's how fans reacted to Suryakumar Yadav's poor show with the bat:
