Switzerland and Cameroon squared off in the Group G fixture at the FIFA World Cup 2022. The only goal in the match was scored by Embolo for Switzerland at Al Janoub Stadium, Al-Wakrah on Thursday. This ensured that the Swiss got their campaign off to a winning start.

Cameroon dominated in the first half as Switzerland failed to get their footing in the first half. Cameroon provided a good attacking display in the first half. However, three minutes after the second half, the Swiss put their name on their scoresheet.

The Goal was scored by Breel Embolo. The start was orchestrated by Xhaka, who slid the ball down the right to Shaqiri, who then found Embolo in the middle of the box. The striker, who was not marked, zoomed the ball past Onana, who did not have any chance of stopping it. The goal happened in the 48th minute of the second half.

Switzerland was too good for Cameroon

The Swiss were denied a second goal when they tried the same formation again. Cameroon had a bad second half. They missed an opportunity to take the lead when Mbeumo was ignored by Choupo Moting in the middle of the pitch. The shot went to the left side of Sommer before the Swiss goalie pushed out Hongala’s attempt when it happened later on in the half.

Cameroon had their flashes of brilliance, but they were clearly outplayed by Switzerland in the game. For the swiss though, the negative was that they had grassed down many chances. They will look to make amends as they move into the tournament. For Cameroon, their string of losses continued as it extended to eight games when it comes to the World Cups.

This was a good result for the Swiss. The Cameroon side would look to come back strong in their next game against Serbia. The Swiss will look to put their best foot forward in the game against Brazil.
