Ravindra Jadeja will miss the T20 World Cup 2022, which is a major upset for the Indian team. The star all-rounder will miss the mega event in Australia later this year due to knee surgery. Jadeja, who played in the first two Asia Cup games against Pakistan and Hong Kong, provides the team with the needed balance, and his absence will be a significant blow to the Men in Blue.

“Jadeja’s right knee injury is pretty serious. He is supposed to undergo a major knee surgery and will be out of action for indefinite period of time. At this point, if one goes by the assessment of the NCA’s medical team, one can’t put a timeline on his imminent international comeback,” a senior BCCI official was quoted saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

It was unclear whether the injury was an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), which can take up to six months to heal. However, it's safe to assume Jadeja will be out for at least three months. Jadeja's knee problem is thought to have been present for some time. It is believed that the thumping on his right knee while landing on his front foot while bowling had an effect.

India in the Asia Cup 2022

In the meantime, the Indian team is in the super four stages of the Asia Cup 2022. In the intercontinental tournament, the Rohit Sharma-led team will face arch-rival Pakistan for the second time. The first match between the two was a nail-biter, with India winning in the final over.

Ravindra Jadeja's bat was crucial in the chase. He made an important partnership with Hardik Pandya, scoring 35 runs in 29 balls. The latter won the match for India with a brilliant display with the bat and the ball.

The second match between India and Pakistan will be played at the Dubai International Stadium on September 4th. The Indian team will be eager to beat Pakistan in the crucial encounter again.
