The much-awaited moment has arrived, the Indian Cricket Board has announced the 15-members ODI World Cup 2023 squad on Tuesday. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressed the press and revealed the squad at 1:30 pm IST.

Last week, the Indian Chief selector Ajit Agarkar flew to Sri Lanka To meet Head coach Rahul Dravid and Captain Rohit Sharma in order to finalize the squad.  This provisional selection has also included a few reserve players, given the injury concerns surrounding star players like KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah.

However, the deadline for the announcement of the squad for the World Cup 2023 is September 5, India has announced their squad on the last day, and ICC have also given provision of flexibility to make changes until September 28.

Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma were already addressed about the selection of the World Cup and will be picked from the 17 members squad which is already selected for the ongoing Asia Cup. India planned on taking the same squad as the Asia Cup 2023.

India has higher chances of winning this World Cup as they will be having the home advantage and also the blend of both experienced and some exciting young talents. And the star players like Rahul and Bumrah who were injured and are on rest for a few days will also be a part of this World Cup.

Sanju, Tilak and Prasidh sidelined from the squad

It also confirmed that Sanju Samson is sidelined. Besides the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna also did not find a place in the World Cup squad.
