The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to start on February 13, Monday. Ahead of the formal start, a series of exhibition games were arranged with stiff security arrangements from both Pakistan Government and the Baloch Government. However, an unfortunate situation occurred in the exhibition game played between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.

A reported bomb blast roughly 8 km from the Bugti Stadium briefly halted play. As a safety measure, the players were escorted off the field. However, the bomb blast wasn't the only hindrance to the safe conduct of this match. There was reportedly massive mismanagement of the crowd inside the stadium. As a result, enraged fans were seen burning fire inside the stadium and pelting stones towards the playing surface.

Here's the video:

Iftikhar Ahmed hit six sixes in an over as Quetta post 184 against Peshawar

Talking of the game, Zalmi's captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Experienced speedster Wahab Riaz gave Zalmi the perfect start dismissing Ahsan Khan and Umar Akmal in the second over. However, Quetta fought back, riding on Iftikhar Ahmed's staggering 94 off 50 balls.

On the other hand, Wahab Riaz was the pick of the bowlers for the Gladiators with figures of 3-47. Ahmed smashed Riaz for six sixes in the final over to get the team from Peshawar to a competitive total of 184 run in their quota of 20 overs. Middle-order batter Khushdil Shah and opener Abdul Wahid Bangalzai were other key contributors with 36 and 28 runs, respectively.

However, following the massive mismanagement from the stadium staff and the panic caused by a reported bomb blast near the venue, the incident has sparked reactions from fans on Twitter. While some considered Pakistan incompetent to host the Asia Cup, others took a light-hearted sarcastic take.
