In recent times, one Indian player has gone through multiple trolling. Not only that, but he also had to lose his spot in Tests because of poor form. However, on Friday in the first ODI against Australia he shut down all the critics who doubted his potential. The man is no other than KL Rahul. He played a match-winning knock in the first ODI and helped his team take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Winning the toss, India had put Australia to bat first at Wankhede Stadium. Despite getting a good start, Australia failed to capitalize and their innings fell apart. Australia gave India just 189 runs to chase at Wankhede Stadium.

However, the target was not easy, as India lost early wickets. The chase looked off the track as India found themselves at 83/5 in the 20th over. The chase became a tricky one and the onus was on K. L. Rahul.

He brought a lot more calm and composure in the middle. On a lively pitch, where bowlers were getting a lot of assistance, he played every ball to its merit. KL Rahul played a sensational knock of 75 runs from 91 deliveries, a knock which was laced with seven fours and a six. He stitched an unbeaten 108-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja and helped India win the game by 5 wickets.

Not only K. L. Rahul shut his critics with bat but his father-in-law, Sunil Shetty too. Following the former's match-winning knock, the Bollywood superstar said,

“Upar wala jab hai na bahar koi kuch bhi bole.”

Sunil Shetty was of the opinion that when God is with you, whatever outsiders say, doesn’t matter. India will play against Australia at YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in the second game of the bilateral series. The Men in Blue will look to extend their winning run and seal the series, whereas Australia will look forward to bounce back to save the campaign.
